How Right Keyword Usage Position a Website in Top Search Results

Organic search is one of the best sources of website visitors or free website traffic. Recent updates in search algorithms made a huge change in the ranking of thousands of websites. SEO or Internet marketing business was in need of such change because search results were overly crowded with false ranking of spam websites or simply the sites which paid to get high PR back links and keyword stuffing type techniques to get in top search results.

Search engines often improve their search algorithms to refine the search results and provide the users with as accurate and best search results as possible and in fact, this accuracy is their beauty. Search engine robots or crawlers crawl every page hosted on World Wide Web and include in their index. Some intelligent analysis and ranking matrix are applied before these pages are delivered in search results. The old SEO techniques are obsolete now. Most of the spam or black hat SEO techniques used previously are screened by current search algorithms.

Some basic SEO rules did not change and still work best. For instance, Meta tags title, keywords and description. As optimized these tags will be, so would be the better placement of that site in search results. Another key change in SEO world is noticed as the difference between page rank and search rank. A higher page rank can’t guarantee the website visibility in top search results. In SERPs, keywords are one of the key factors to win this race.

Keyword Usage and Current SEO

Current SEO techniques count on the correct usage of targeted keywords. Their usage could be divided into two parts or referred as primary and secondary keywords. Primary keywords are used in the website itself and secondary keywords are used outside of the website, in off-page SEO or link building campaigns.

For instance, if a website business is designing templates for volusion online stores. Its primary keywords will be Volusion templates, custom volusion templates and secondary keyword will include website design. If a website uses keywords in this fashion, it will become visible in SERPs as soon as it is indexed. Further it depends on the competition level of primary keywords. The higher competition level keywords will need more off-page SEO to get in top search results.

To get an idea of this process and to see that how a search engine ranks your website, use the webmaster tools. Google and Bing offers good deal of these tools and the data shown as “content keywords” and “search queries” will reflect the actual status of the position of a website against a particular keyword.
